The love potion used in “Marie’s Schemes (Part 1 of 2)” is the same one from “The Book of Prophecy (Part 1of 5).” According to dialogue from the latter mission, the Book of Prophecy was originally Marie’s before May took it on her search for Ed.(The only reasons why the Kankers haven’t simply asked to enter in the first place is because of their own stubborn pride, how hardly anyone in the Cul-des-Sac trusts them for their past actions, and the infection surrounding Peach Creek as a whole hasn’t gotten severe enough to risk bringing in potentially hazardous individuals like them.) Besides that, the Trojan Hamburger plan would also help ensure their safety since the cardboard castle is protected from fusion monsters. Marie will only get involved with the war effort when necessary or if someone comes to her with an issue first. She’s not a soldier anyway, so for her, everyday is just business as usual: They just have to wait the war out. As a result of this view, she focuses almost 100% of her energy on the Trojan Hamburger plan amongst other schemes to get the Eds to fall for her and her sisters.Similar to others as well though, the longer the war wears on, the more seriously she’ll have to take it. This is only reinforced by the fact that she and Lee have done a pretty decent job watching over their home at the Park n’ Flush against low-level monsters–with closely stationed fusion fighters ready to handle whatever they can’t. The Cul-des-Sac is normally a pretty safe place even in the world of FusionFall, with tons of heroes around to deal whatever chaos shows up: It’s just hard for Marie and others with her point of view to see anything really bad happening since someone has always been there to save the day. She’s of a mindset similar to–albeit not to the same extreme as–the citizens of Townsville in the episode “Too Pooped to Puff,” where they were so accustomed to the PPG saving the day that the thought of the girls failing or not even coming to their aid was impossible. Despite her cunning, Marie is one of the few people who doesn’t feel Fuse’s invasion is something to be taken as seriously as others see it.Either way, it’s safe to say that she’s a force not to be trifled with.
If only she’d focus those strengths just on them instead of trying to conquer the Eds… She might actually make a good fusion fighter.
